Historic gathering in Jerusalem to re-enforce eternal Jewish roots in Israel
Reunion of Jewish descendants of King David designed to evoke Jewish pride and unity, new genealogy center and museum
August, 2007...Union, NJ… The Eshet Chayil Foundation has a long history of identifying and innovating charitable endeavors which support the physical and spiritual needs of Jews around the world. Their work is usually done quietly and without fanfare. This latest undertaking, however, promises to bring worldwide media attention to Jerusalem on May 28-30, 2007 when Jewish descendents of King David will gather there. It also marks the official inauguration of the Worldwide Davidic Dynasty Genealogy Center and Museum in the Old City of Jerusalem. According to Sheila Nashofer, the USA representative, “this historic gathering was also timed to coincide with festivities celebrating the 40th year since the reunification of Jerusalem.” To add to the excitement, the event also culminates years of genealogical research to gather family trees from Jewish descendants of King David - with the largest such family tree ever assembled to be unveiled at the conference.
Susan Roth, Founder and President of the Eshet Chayil Foundation and co-chairperson of the event is herself a Jewish descendant of King David. She affirms with great passion that the time is right for such a gathering, “now more than ever, the Jewish descendants of King David must declare to the world our eternal ties to the Land of Israel,” she says.
Mitchell Dayan, fellow co-chairperson of the event, is a member of the Dayan Aleppo family and an 87th generation, father to son, Jewish descendant of King David. Dayan believes that the Davidic Dynasty will be a great unifying force among Jews” we have identified Jewish descendents of King David from all walks of life, all coming together in Jerusalem.”
The Eshet Chayil Foundation (www.eshetchayil.org) is involved in many charitable endeavors that promote Jewish unity, continuity and education throughout the United States and Israel.
Operation Refuah, another project of The Eshet Chayil Foundation received international response and media acclaim. Further, the Foundation’s generosity helps the needy and downtrodden among the Jewish people and protects many of the holiest sites in Israel.
“Because we focus on both the physical and spiritual needs of the Jewish People,” says Roth who founded Eshet Chayil eight years ago,” the David Dynasty is a natural
outgrowth of our efforts. “Jews the world over,” she continues,” will get a powerful reminder about pride of our past and the glory of our future.”
During the three day gathering in May 2007, participants will be treated to a sound and light show of King David's life; multiple sessions by world-renown experts in Jewish history and Jewish genealogy; fascinating tours that trace the life and times of King David; a first-time, private tour of the Worldwide Davidic Dynasty Museum as part of its historical inaugural opening ceremonies, the opportunity to have a professional cartographer publish personal family trees, and a Gala Royal Banquet.
A partial list of names that researchers targeted as being probable descendents of King David can be found at www.davidicdynasty.org. Jewish descent from King David can be determined through oral tradition, rabbinic sources, historical data and/or extensive research. Many families trace their connection to King David through the famous medieval scholar known as Rashi.
There have been many great Jewish leaders and famous Rabbis who trace their ancestry back to King David. This group includes: Hillel, Rabban Gamliel, Rabbi Yehuda Hanasi, Yochanan Hasandler, and Yosef Karo. More contemporary leaders include the Baal Shem Tov, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, the Lubavitcher Rebbe and past President of Israel Chaim Herzog. All Jews are encouraged to send in their family tree or their family surnames to researchstaff@davidicdynasty.org.
Davidic Dynasty genealogists have identified the descendents of King David, and they are not only great rabbinic leaders, but also captains of industries, producers and stars in Hollywood. ”The greatness of King David lies in his bloodline—no matter who they are and what they do,” Roth concurred.
The inaugural event for the Davidic Dynasty will be an Exclusive Dinner on October 19th held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park City, New York honoring Manhattan District Attorney, Robert Morgenthau Jr., world renowned Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis and an esteemed head of the Twersky Rabbinic Dyasty- all of whom are of Davidic descent. The event will feature the first ever writing of a Sefer Torah in honor of King David by his descendants
